Description: Edward Clement Bethel was a Bahamian composer, pianist and conductor. He became the first Director of Culture in his natal country: Bahamas. After studying classical music and piano in London, he decided to focus on the indigenous music of The Bahamas and did a doctoral thesis in ethnomusicology. His compositions are based on a constant recovery of indigenous culture, based on stories, legends and poems, and recovering the music of Bahamas.
