Description: Erkki-Sven Tüür is a music composer, conductor, drummer and flute player from Estonia. He started as a successful progressive rock musician. Later, he decided to be a composer of contemporary classical music where he mixes the intellectual and emotional realm. His melodies have polyphonic textures, with an interest in minimalism and in the combination of opposites: tonality / atonality, repetitive rhythms / irregular complex rhythms. Tüür was awarded the Cultural Prize of Estonia and the Baltic Assembly Prize for Literature, the Arts and Science.
