Beatriz Matt

I am a music composer based in London. I have been trapped by Music for as long as I can remember. I have been studying piano and music for 20 years now. I was always drawn to arts, what made me wanted to be a composer since I was a child. I studied Composition and Music Theory at the conservatory in Madrid and did different courses along the years (Escuela de Música Creativa de Madrid, Conservatorio Joaquín turina, and took private lessons with composer Alejandro Román).
In 2016, I graduated from a BMus in Musicology at Universidad Autónoma de Madrid. Then, I decided to come to London to to study an MMus in Music Composition, at Goldsmiths University of London, from which I graduated in 2017. After that, I decided to study an MSc in Music and Neuroscience, from which I graduated in 2019 at Goldsmiths University. I am fascinated by how the brain works when we listen, create and perform music, and the benefits that music has on the brain and on the body. I try to apply my knowledge from this MSc in my compositions, to give my listeners a richer experience out of them. I specialise in Film scoring, although I love composing in several different musical genres. I always loved challenging myself and learning from others. My ultimate favourite composers are Ennio MorriconeHildur Guðnadóttir, Trent Reznor, Alexadre Desplat and, out of film scoring, L. van Beethoven.
